the official CRUISEBOAT BIO

a briefer bio is available below the official one...

Welcome aboard the Cruiseboat tours of Werribee River. If you glance to your left you will notice several log formations which look and smell remarkably like shit. As a matter of fact, those formations aren't logs, and if you'll kindly cast your eyes starboard you will notice the proposed toxic wasteland which will bring jobs and prosperity to an otherwise 'unpromising' western community...
Anyway, this is where Cruiseboat were conceived. Cruiseboat met at a friendly catholic high school in 1995 and started jamming in mid '96. Our lineup consists of the ordinary instruments of 2 guitarists (David and Fezz), bass (Craig), and drums (James), with the vocals shared between David and James. We write original songs and have been categorised as persuing 'the dark side of rock' with some pop thrown in, whatever that means. Our influences include bands such as Ricaine, Midget, Tweezer, Screamfeeder, Shellac, Slint, Polvo and Archers of Loaf.
Our previous guitarist Sam played on our demo and 10 track CD but since left the band, so we played as a 3 piece for a while before getting a new recruit, Fezz. Cruiseboat have played in the order of 40+ gigs with national acts such as Midget, Screamfeeder, Rash, Gerling and Pollen as well as some great local bands like Ricaine, S:Bahn, Fledgling, etc, etc. These gigs have been at well respected inner city venues such as the Public Bar, the Punters Club, the Metro, the Arthouse, Nicholsons, the Tote, the Royal Derby, and also some outer establishments like the Tudor Inn and the Barwon Club.
Cruiseboat are a fun band and find it an honour to play (almost) anywhere, any time. We are students and will be asleep for all eternity unless we get some gigs to play.

BRIEF BIO

Cruiseboat started a couple of years ago when four young chaps met at school and decided to jam. These activities greatened and became a more serious matter, which lead to the outfit collectively known as Cruiseboat. After a couple of gigs in our bathroom and hometown of Werribee (it does not stink, you do) we scored a gig in the big smoke with Midget. That was pleasant, and from then on we have been gigging around Melbourne (in Australia). We recorded a 7 track demo tape in July 1997 and recorded a 10 track CD in '98. Some bands that we've played with that we like include Screamfeeder, Midget, S:Bahn, Gerling, Ricaine, Fledgling and so on. Some venues we've played at include the Public Bar, Punters Club, Goo, the Tote etc. Our old guitarist, Sam left in late March so we played as a 3 piece for a while but was replaced by a new chap, Fezz who is a pleasant and enthusiastic fellow.
